Rival Angels Page 237-Winnah

So Brooke pulled it off! Not in the greatest or most decisive way, but she did it. As per the replay, we can see what the ref say. That is, Brooke’s shoulders up, and Monica’s shoulders down. Brooke got her first win! And how much has that got to hurt to hear Brooke gloat about it too, like in panel 2?

Monica’s not taking it very well and I don’t think the threat of testicular harm is going to change that. She’s got bigger problems right now, and that’s Brooke getting ready to ring Monica’s bell.

A resolution is coming on Monday! And then….a certain tag team match. Big thanks to Justin for helping out on the dialogue on this page. It’s a much better read for it. ;)

Mikey’s Life

Another webcomic that I’d like to direct your attention to, would be Mikey’s Life. It’s a comic that’s part of the Webcomics Planet Collective. It is a bit slice of life and a bit hard edge comedy. Kind of like Seinfeld, but with some harder, more emotional topics. And cursing. Love the cursing. It’s a webcomic about the life of an average thirtysomething guy. Me, being thirty something, can relate.

Lots in the archives too, so if you like it, you’ll have some good reading ahead of you. Each strip is fairly self-contained but also part of a larger story. The inevitable collection will no doubt, rock.

So, give it a whirl and let me know what you think. Don’t be shy about letting Mike know I sent you. ;)

By now you know that Sun’s hair is back to her trademark blue, but for those that didn’t see present day Sun with brown hair, check out the Voting Incentive. :P

And hey! Did you see by the little Webcomic Planet button that we’re listed at #8?! Whoo-hoo!

Krystin Needs Your Help!

Krystin! The Definition of TechnicianOn DeviantArt, there is a wrestling tournament that I entered Krystin into. She’s getting clobbererd currently, and could use your vote. Even if Krystin isn’t your favorite angel, she’s still better than her opponent, right?

Do it.

Podcast Interview

Tonight at 9PM ET I’ll be a guest at TGT Webcomics.  You can listen in live, chat and/or call in during the interview!  Pretty cool, eh?  Feel free to bring your Rival Angels questions. ;)

Here’s some information from the man himself, Kurt, as to how to participate:
As for the chat room, you can have your readers all join into the TalkShoe channel for free, but they will be labeled as Guest 1, 2, 3, etc. If they would like their names, they can sign up for TalkShoe free and create accounts and then get into the channel.

The channel itself is: http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/22928
That will get them directly into the channel and they will be able to talk, ask questions and listen to the cast.
The readers can connect in one of three ways:
1) They can call in if they would like; 724-444-7444 ; CallID 22928# but they will be muted so that we can do the interview and unmuted once the round table discussion is set. Long distance charges may apply, etc
2) They can use a VOIP like Skype: 66.212.134.192 (I believe is the IP address)
3) They can use their headset and mic and use the internal TalkShoe Pro and it’s free.

See you tonight!

Johnny Saturn

Since joining the Webcomic collective, I’ve been looking forward to plugging a comic that I’ve been reading for a while now, Johnny Saturn.

First things first: I grew up on superheroes, love, love, LOVED me some Spiderman and Batman. When I got to fifth grade, I started collecting comics and never looked back. Fast forward to the new century with everything that is wrong with comics. Such as, gimmicks, crappy stories that include deals with devils and other out of character nuances with smug, money hungry EIC’s laughing their asses to the bank with just enough pandering to keep me away from superheroes for a good long while.

Enter Johnny Saturn. Here’s a webcomic/comic book that is something that can help fill the big void left by the greed of the Big two. It’s not a comic for children, and I like that. I like a webcomic that is written with my tastes. It reads alot like Austin Grossman’s exceptional book, ‘Soon I will Be Invincible.’ Just like Austin Groosman’s book, there is a wonderful nod to the old school heroes and the way that they conducted themselves but leaving out the camp and frivolity.

The writing and stories of Johnny Saturn are smart and well-written. The stories are so character driven that you get caught up in the characters lives, whether they’re ‘good guys’ or ‘bad guys.’ The distinction isn’t always clear, who’s good or bad and that’s something that will entertainingly keep you on your toes. The pacing keeps things from bogging down or accelerating at a breakneck speed. You won’t help nodding approvingly when you get taken for a ride on one of the story twists.

The art is fantastic. Every update always has top notch art, always solid. Always good angles, anatomy, perspective and the coloring fits the mood. Scott doesn’t seem to take a day off or skimp on the details.  Trust me, the art, especially the covers are amazing.

Come for the story, stay for the art. You’ll be happy you checked it out.
